In 2012 the city of Nickelsdorf in Austria will replace its complete streetlighting installation to energy saving and sustainable LED public lighting. The city selected the Innolumis LED luminaires. The city of Nickelsdorf has an example role regarding energy and carbondioxide savings as specified by the Austrian government and the European Union.
"A public tender was held that was preceded by a survey of public lighting installations that were present in the city. The survey team also conducted an electrotechnical check”, Mayor Gerhard Zapfl points out. The planning team had the task to find the most advanced LED lighting that fulfils the requirements and saves most energy. During the public tender, the Innolumis LED lighting came out to be the most sustainable and energy efficient option.
“Using this unique worldwide patented technology, with pure LEDs the spectrum is presented that evokes best human vision during twilight and night time conditions. That offers us optimal sight and colour perception using little electrical energy.”
- Ing. Klaus Schanta, managing director DIONS® LIGHT SYSTEMS
Several scientific studies show that humans perceive a better safety in lighting that matches the eye sensitivity during twilight and night: during so called mesopic conditions. It is also true that mesopic light is less disturbing for animals and insects because the pure LEDs do not emit UltraViolet light. Furthermore, the Innolumis luminaires reduce light pollution to a minimum. Hence, a sustainable and responsible interaction is held with the natural environment.
